my gearbox is on its way out. wondering if anyone has rebuilt one them self. if so is it worth doing yourself or to just spend the extra money and get a reco one?

I rebuilt one last year. You'll want an el'cheapo press from trade tools or supercheap. Also take pics before you start pulling bearings, gears, synchros off the shaft so that you've got something to refer to when reassembling. It's pretty straight forward otherwise. I only had one problem. I put it back together and couldn't select reverse. Turns out I missed a washer on the bolt outside the selector housing. Turns out it was a locator bolt and was binding the selector without the washer. Don't ask how long it tool me to work out that was the problem.......
EDIT: Heres the kit I used http://locktup4x4.com.au/suzuki-89/driv ... t-394.html

I'd be taking the $100 delivered this weekend offer. That's sensational. I don't even need a gearbox and I'd take that offer lol.

i don't know what the condition of any of the boxes is but the one i would trust the most was driving fine until it hit a tree.
