I have just did this conversion on my Jimny and wanted to clear a few things up for people that are looking at doing it.
I used the benT kit he now makes the engine mount to suit the jimny.
Here is my adaptor ring
For the sump you have to swap with the Jimny sump and oil pick up same a doing the sierra one but no need for the sump mod for crank angle sensor as jimnys dont run them.
you need to plug up the hole where the crank angle sensor go's on th 1600 block for this I useed a 3/4 welsh plug with a smear of stagg on it then when putting the sump on I made sure the welsh plug was filled with salastic.
Here is the sensor hole I pluged
Next is the pick up for the cam sensor now some balenos come with the right pick up on them they have like 11 prongs same a jimny the other baleno's have 3 prongs it wont run with the 3 pron pick up everywhere I have read said you need to change the cams over from the jimny.
I didnt want to do this as it will change the 1600's rev range so i looked into it and figure out that the pick up on the end of the cam comes off.
its pressed on like a rear wheel bearing collor.
you can remove it with a small pully puller.
make sure to put both motors on TDC and mark the pick up on a spot where you can line it up again on the 1600 when instaling it.
Now line it up on your mark (if you miss judge it the timing will be out) and tap it on evenley with a punch.
Here is the baleno one removed.
Next is right hand engine mount
I used the BenT proto type and it fits great it is close to the alt but dosent intereferr with it if running a falcon alt you may have clearace issues
Next the water pipe at the back of the water pump the jimny one go's in but the bolt hole dosent line up I just made a small tab so my bracket look like a upsidown L
You can see it in this pic
Power steer bracket fits ok but the top of the A/C bracket need trimming to clear the exhust manafold and I enlarged the bottom bolt holes to lift the bracket yo as the top bolt on the a/c pump wont line up and you will need a bigger belt for the A/C, P/S. its a 4PK930
the jimny flywheel and clutch is needed also, so bolt that onto the 1600.
You need to swap the baleno injectors into Jimny manafold as well
Then fit it all back up
I grinded my jimny starter down to make it fit but you can buy a small body starter to suit I think they come out of vitara's
While your at it replace the rear main seal and cam, crank seals timing belt and water pump I would also do the termostat
and replace the clutch is its getting low.
Here is a video of it all together and running all up it took 3 afternoons from start to finish in cluding pulling the baleno motor out
