Forget which ones I used but easy to get off and would be a good spare.

Hey guys, sorry if I'm asking questions that have already been posted on this thread but I am currently putting a 1.6 baleno motor in one of my sierras, having a few issues with working out how much of the sierra sump needs to be cut for the crank angle sensor and also the wiring loom, I did read here a while ago that there is a place where I can send it to be changed?

FWIW, Super cheap auto online (through the parts guide) do a pair of VL engine mounts for $37.74 with free postage.

I think I put up some pictures in my build thread of doing the sump, it's probably not the best way and it's not been tested with the motor running yet but it bolted up spot on. Search my post history for a thread titled daisy and you will find it!

Hey do you have to change the fuel tank from the stock 1.3 one?

Yes unless it's a coily or you use a surge tank and extra pumps.

What car is it going in?
Coily tank bolts into SWB, LWB soft top and Maurtis' or with custom mounts the 40L SWB EFI Vitara tank can be fitted.
For traybacks (maurtis' excluded) you can fit the 55L LWB Vitara or the 80L EFI Holden Jackaroo tanks with custom mounts (There are a couple of threads with pics floating around)
Coily tanks are the same as 1.3 leafy tanks except they have a swirl pot and can be fitted with an EFI pump/pickup assembly from a vitara or baleno

Thanks so much for this thread Cairnszook, it's been really helpful! Cab anyone tell me what these are though? Not sure where they go or what they do. Also what's this big hole for?

those 2 hoses are vacuum hoses & reconnect to your inlet manifold (if no one gives a better explanation please bump this & i'll take photos of mine so you can see where they go).
that other big hole i'm pretty sure is left as is (as before though bump & i'll take photos tonight to make sure).

That one in your right hand goes to the hole just at the end of your fingers. You are missing a part it connects too.
I think the other one goes to the fuel Evap canister??

I’ll be doing this conversion again soon but I’ll be using the G13bb jimny inlet manifold instead

I would strongly recommend retaining the Baleno water neck on the back of the block.

Yes, I've mentioned this a few times.
Vitaras have a reputation for cracking G16B heads and doing head gaskets. Vitara G16B's in Sierras seem to crack heads and do head gaskets, regularly, or at least have that reputation G16B's swapped into Jimny's do heads/head gasket. Balenos do not have this reputation.
My theory is it's due to coolant flow.
Baleno's put the whole coolant flow through the block from end to end. In at the water pump, out at the back of the block. Vitaras and Jimny's dead head the back of the block, coolant has to return back through the head to the thermostat housing. The heater hose is attached to to the back of the head and in a vitara the heater core has full flow at all times. I haven't checked the way the heater works in a Jimny. Sierra's heater core only flows when the heater is engaged - it's a simple tap.
I have checked this with factory service manual coolant flow diagrams.
I don't think that there is a coincidence between coolant flow and head cracks- and the worst case being people (like me) who used to swap G16's into sierras and hook the heater up as per a Sierra.

Use a bypass tap so there’s full flow out of the back of the block. It’s the best you can do.

No, I haven't played with them. I recall someone mentioning a vehicle model with a bypass tap the other day but can't recall what it was, sorry.
