Hi all, when I had my m18a installed sometime ago it was playing up and having moments of pausing when stationary and when I went to take off it would stumble for a few seconds before clearing and running good so I eventually found on this forum somewhere a diagram and info on running the breather from the intake tube to a oil catch can and this will stop this from happening as no more hot air will be entering the TB causing the flutter when stationary and boy that made a difference with that disconnected and naturally I blocked off the hole on the intake tube,so since I had the head done on suzi my mechanic noticed what I had done and said I should re-connect the breather and he did just that so my question to those in the know is it okay to run it back into the oil catch can as it sure ran better that way or is it doing some damage potentially?

The issue the way you describe it sounds like you originally had faulty PCV valve. The reason the top of your engine is vented into your throttle body/inlet manifold is because this gets pressurised from escaped gas past the rings around your pistons, called blowby.
It became illegal for motors to have vented-to-atmosphere crank cases ages ago, 70's or 80's I believe. So the blowby had to be handled by directing it back into the inlet for it the oily gas/unburnt fuel mixture to be burnt by the engine.
The PCV valve can become faulty by being blocked or gummed. If it is not working correctly you may see the symptoms of hesitation you describe. A bit like a vacuum leak.
Directing it to a catch can wouldn't cause any damage to the engine but the operation of the valve will not work correctly as it has different "modes" depending on vacuum and pressure on each side of the valve. You might find that the engine will vent all the time and lose oil or not vent at all and start leaking around gaskets.
I would replace the PCV first and see if the problem goes away.

I fully understand what you mean by that and the PCV is in good nick however when I did have it running to the catch can I did notice that my oil level had dropped a bit as opposed to having the breather tube connected and my oil levels have not moved since it was put back on BUT I certainly have noticed a lacklustre from the car with it connected and I recall reading somewhere that its due to the hot air going into the throttle body whereas before with the said tube disconnected it was real lively and crisp on all rev ranges especially take off SO any ideas on how to effectively get rid of the vented hot air going into the throttle body and regain the cars get up and go without doing any harm and of course have it properly venting?
Also the M18A in the Liana has a much larger intake pipe whereas the Jimny one is somewhat smaller in diameter so this maybe where the problem lies due to not enough airflow ? dunno
