Got my hands on a EF falcon and ball and I thought it would be a good idea to gut it as much as possible and then add some extra bits and see what 1/4 mile times we could get.

Car hasn't been started for quite a while and seems to have some sort of electrical issue.

A fine example of why there is no longer an Australian car building industry.

Image

Wouldnt start but a snort of start ya bastard got it popping.

Image

Replaced the fuel pump and pumped out all the sludge out of the fuel tank.

Image

Put 20 litres of avgas in it and the pump still didn't work

Image

Asked google what the issue might be and then located the pump relay, gave it a flogging and it started working :peaceout:
However it still wouldn't crank. Was almost like the in gear start switch, so we busted apart the centre console to find no lock out switch.
Went and asked google again and one of the suggestions was to belt the dash on the left hand side of the steering colum.
Bugger me if it didn't work. Woohoo.

Yep proberbly

Aiming for 13sec for under $500 total.

So far it's cost $80 for tilt tray, $60 for a VDO fuel pump.
Just bought a shift kit for $70, should be able to find some diff gears laying around.
Ball has a good supply of nitrous.

Should be fun. Worst part is the race season doesn't start until may or June

13 sec is a fast time... What engine and transmission does it have. Does it have LSD..The lighter it gets the harder it is to get it off the mark without loosing traction. One of my rexs does 13 sec 1/4s ... That will be good cheap fun once you get it sorted..

Last time I drag races was in 1996 and that was road legal vechicle that did a easy 11.2 with a slipping clutch.
The EF is just gunna be a fun racer.
Will stick a spool in it

Its good ball has a good supply of nitrous. When i had my swift on nitrous i could some weeks fill the bottle twice at a $130 a pop but its probably the best fun in a car i ever had. To race and beat cars with sometimes up to 3 or 4 times more horsepower in a car i bought for $800 and a $600 nitrous kit was a blast.

Did a bit more work on it today. Went shopping for parts amongst the cars we chip up for practice and found a few needed bits.

Image

Had another go at getting the orange stuff off the car and started preping for paint.

Image

Prob should be able to touch it without getting covered in orange shit

Decided to not worry about using medical nitrous and to just buy the right bottles.
Hopefully get in some test drives on the weekend.

 You've got enough Nitrus there to fly to the moon..No wonder you pull such good times at the drags.. This is a friends ford that you would appreciate. We had here for a while waiting on ANOTHER main gear shaft to arrive from the the states. ( the new one...3rd under warranty, only lasted 3 weeks) . Its 702 KWTSATW ...LOL...

Image

Image

Has a large front mount IC .. Bit pointless if you ask me.. All that power in a rear wheel drive car. All it can do well is spin it's wheels and break it's gearbox.. It can't keep up with our rexs around Mt Glorious..lol..

Today's plan was to bolt on the nitrous kit and then do skids but unfortunately the new fuel pump had shat it's self and it was pretty hot so just looked at it for a while.

Image

Then we figured that it would benefit from a new diff ratio and I remembered seeing a ute in the bush so we went and grabbed the ring and pinion gears out of it. Stock is 3.08 and the ute is 3.45 so should make a bit of a difference

Had to drag the poxy thing out of a swamp first

Image

Image

The gears are in pretty good condition considering how much water was in the diff

Still collecting bits, now have a J pipe and eBay turbo.

It's going to be interesting to see which bit goes bang first

Was in a mates shed today. He builds ridiculous cars.
Last full bodied road driven vy clubby went 8.8 down the 1/4
This ones shooting for over 1600hp
Thought this the most drag related thread
