Hi folks, first time poster, jimny noob in general.

Looking at purchasing a 99 jimny with a potentially dead engine. I haven't physically checked, but i believe that makes it a g motor. Had a quick ring to a couple suzuki wreckers, g motors they want 2k+, m can be had low kms for a few hundred. My questions :

1. G series are carby, correct?
2. What are the differences between the various jimnys? I'm guessing different mounts or k frame for the different engines, obviously ecu and wiring differences between carb and efi, different fuel tank, instrument cluster... Gearboxes, diff/ratios, tailshaft lengths... are the bodies the same? Ie, if u pulled a 99 jimny down to a shell, would everything from a 2009 jimny bolt in fine? trying to work out if I'm better off recoing current engine or buying a later model wreck and swapping everything. Or if it's worth doing at all (money/time factors).

Thanks guys

Put a g16B in it. Baleno donors are ~$600.
If you want an M motor Jimny, buy one suzuki already built for you.

Jimmy g motors are efi.
I wouldn't pay 2k for a g13 motor.
As above put a g16b in it.
An adapter plate from bent (check eBay or in the businesses section here), oil pickup mod and swapping the cam over is the hardest part, then it's smooth sailing with few tweaks here and there.
Less than a day's work and awesome improvement

Well put. I was standing by a racetrack waiting for trophy trucks to arrive when I typed my post, hence its brevity.
