I put together this engine stand not so much to assemble engines but to mock up things like exhaust manifolds so you know you've got clearance etc. It wouldn't be a big job to fit a firewall and set of guards either. Another option would be to put a radiator in it and actually run the engine in situ.

so why all the effort? it there something in the works? I have an engine I want to build that i'll use it for. I've got most of the parts for it now, and now I have the block on a stand I can start messing with it. Long term thing though, it's really just something for me to tinker with. |

Looks good. Very handy. Have been thinking about getting an old frame from a wrecker and making one myself. Wanting to put a toyota 20v in my coily - and will need to make up custom engine mounts, custom radiator etc. Hmmm. How long did it take you to weld it up? |

Took me maybe 30 mins to weld it up, all I did was put some legs on it, piece of piss. The wheels make it a LOT easier to move around, and I will slide some 32NB pipe up each chassis rail so I can move it around like a wheelbarrow |

I built something similar for a bike I was building. Engine needed to be painted, rebuilt, polished etc etc etc. Made it easy having it on wheels, I could sandblast it outside, bring it back in to detail and clean. Here's some pics of mine. Its made in 2 peices so you can mount one side of the engine on it, then raise it to mount the other side so you dont have to balance anything. this zook engine was huge, and very heavy, for a bike engine.
