My original is shaggered and the lights are gettin busted so its time i built a decent one.

Because im a tight arse student this bar will almost be completely free. With the exception of new lights, welding rods and grinding discs.

Main beam (50x50x3)

The remainder will be made of 2.5 plate. i think its actually flat bar. its about 140mm wide.

excuse my welds (not making excuses but there was very little light and my rods were damp)
Keeping it tight

Thats all i got done tonite. have other jobs this weekend so wont get anymore time til next week.

with my massive guns :rofl:

its only 2mm so i just pulled it round whilst it was bolted up, and took it off to make final adjustments.

heres an update

got the left side mostly done now im rushing abit because i need it done for sunday.

im happy with it so far, could be better, given more time and access to a proper workshop.
i have a carport for a shed and an ironing board for a bench :woohoo:

I thought i did a final update a last week

Its all done now drove 650km last sunday and home again on thursday, all is good gave it a test run in the bush yesterday.
Im quite happy with the end result.

I used LED brand lights they are nice and bright, lifetime warranty and look pretty good.
it was only after i finished and did a final fit that i realized i had no reverse light :lol:

So i ran into supercheap and got an led work light for about 60 bux
this thing is bloody bright.

Has anyone got any ideas for blending the bar into the flairs? maybe some thin sheet?
lots of bog? bit of both?

In saying that, an English wheel would do it, I'd say just more time consuming

Thanks mate. only used basic tools. lots of clamps some vice grips are really handy too. and the obvious, welder, grinder, hammer

Some more build pics.

There is probably better and stronger ways to go about making a bar like this but considering a finished cost of about $25 i think the product is pretty good.
the 50x50 main member provides the strength to back over trees nd shit haha and the wings provide protection from branches, banks and rocks.
lot of welding and grinding, mainly because i used off cuts
