Well my winch bar is almost complete. Just getting primed and ill paint it tomorrow. Basis is 100sq RHS with 10mm 350 grade uprights. Theres a cut out for the which which was gusseted to make up the strength. To say i overengineered this bar is not the whole truth. Now, something that made me think was the pitiful mounting holes on the chassis. my main concern was the minute gap from the holes to the end of the chassis, and the probability of them stretching. I know everyone uses them and I havnt heard any problems except in excessive situations, but being me I made some 3mm brackets that were tig welded onto the chassis for a bit more strength. apart from ripping the chassis further back, im interested to see if these pose any problems. All metal was supllied and cut at work, welding done at work, and total cost is about 16 bucks for bolts. Ill get some photos of it tomorrow, but here is noob, and auto cad. |

but seriously that bar looks good my bar is starting to pull out of the chassis rail so i was thinking of doing something similar to what your doing are they going to be the only mounting points for the bar? |

All porn is awesome, but i didnt think anyone would motice thatfolder so fast. Well I was going to paint my bar tonight but its all installed and the winch is hooked up. Just need two longer bolts, and some brackets for my indicators and its done. Had to trim the bottom of the grill support to squeeze the xinch in, and welding the uprights kind of squeezed them out a bit and I had to shave them to get it to fit. The winch controller plugs in the grill where i cut a small amount out. Apart from cutting the main bar with a 9 inch grinder and pretty much putting everything else out of alighnment, it all went together nicely and tightly. so next time you build something dont forget your local laser cutter. and a wad of cash to get things done. On thing left to do is when i measured everything up I forgot to factor in the clutch handle. thats why there is two holes with no tube. Now everything is in ive seen I can shave an arc in the tube facing rearwards and plate it. It will be tight but everything here is Now im hanging to go use my winch this weekend. oh and cat is 114mm extruded ally |

Nice fabwork, but if you don't want to get done by transport you should weld some 30mm wide flat bar around the virtical plates on all forward facing edges. This is to protect pedestrians. Also the tube through the top needs to be capped at the ends for the same reasons. Keep up the good work. Pete |

Good work Esky. Fatzook is right and I would probably do those couple of mods so you don't get picked up. As for the Awsome Porn folder, I thought that folder was built into Windows, just like the My Documents folder |

these 2 holes in the end of the chassis are were the factory winch bolts to. They are strong enough if you follow good engineering practises when making bar work remember that clamping force is what is needed so if you brace in between the insides of the chassis rail so that the steel can pull tight onto something then this where you get your strength. |
