Post subject:  New GV Underseat Tray

My previous model GV had a sliding tray under the passenger seat, which was exactly the wrong size to be particularly useful, but by jamming it down quite firmly, we used to get the street directory in it.

Anyway, while poking around the other week, I discovered the runners and stops are there under the seat in the new car. I walzed off to our dealer, who quoted something in excess of $100 for the tray. I then found a plastic storage bin at Crazy Clarks for $2.00 which was about the same size, and had a lid on it.

Even though it fitted it wasn't all that useful, so I set out to make a man-sized useful drawer!

This one is about 80mm high overall, and fits the Fire Extinguisher and the "Manly Wet Ones" and a few other bits, I built it as a quick template, but as happens probably won't get round to replacing it as it's completely out of view.

Most importantly, the extinguisher is easy to get to and I didn't have to drill any holes to mount it.

Cheers,

P

B4T, I don't want to gloat or anything but I'm sitting in the dark by my tent in Charleville right now en route to Birdsville and a bit of sand and stone, so don't have the measuring gear!

It's approximately 200 mm wide and 370 deep from memory, but it's easy enough to measure the frame under the seat. If you allow ten mm from the groove for the slide to the top, the spring gadget will hold it firm so it doesn't slide out when you brake.

If you can't work it out let me know and I'll do a measured drawing, I could do it out here and take a pic of it I think, although I don't expect to have a terribly reliable internet connection for a few weeks till I get to Alice Springs.

:D :D

Cheers,

P
