Worked it out haha so I had to trim webbing off the diff centre fits like a glove as centre mount in nearly same spot just needing steel for brackets |

Triton diffs are 4.9 ratio going to try put engine in and work out engine mounts I have the ones that were fabd for the triton chassis so hopefully a few minor ujustments |

Why not just put a 4.88 ratio in the Vitara rear diff? |

Axle strength will be the hassle, and that's related to traction and gearing. Your gearing won't be low at all so peak torque loads at the axles won't be all that high compared to those of us running deep transfer reduction. Personally, I'd fit 4.88 gears and drive it - worry about the rear axle strength later if it presents itself as a problem. You have bigger hurdles to overcome to get a running car before you have to worry about rear axles. Front CV's are going to be a considerable challenge. I'd be looking into the Hagen widening mod and hilux CV's. tHe weight of the that V8 is going to play havoc with Vitara CV's. Steve. |

Yeah mob in Perth make custom cvs so they'll be triton one end vit the other motor weighs aproxx175kg it's the box that will weigh more prob hahah Hagen widening ??? |

I can't see the point in spending money to make a shaft with a CV that's too small on it. Hagen widening mod - consult Google. It widens front track to permit fitment of unmodified hilux front driveshafts. BenT on here can also assist with a fitting kit for the Hilux stub axles. I reckon this mod will be 100% required. Vitaras load their front ends up a lot standard, let alone with such a heavy motor. 175Kg is about twice the weight of the Vitara motor. I'm sure the gearbox and transfer are close to twice the weight too. You're going to have to deal with springs and struts. I'd also strongly consider a strut brace - High km/heavy used vitaras are known to crack their chassis around the strut towers. Again, with twice the engine weight this is only going to be worse/accelerated. Engine looks like it's sitting well forward in the bay. How have you determined fore/aft position? did you contemplate any engine setback? would assist in cooling and weight distribution. |

It will go as close to radiator as possible the 1uz rad I have is nearly the size of vit one so may only need to be a little thicker car will not be a daily as I drive a truck mostly and have a ute we put vit on our 12 ton 4x4 truck with my bobcat ramps wen we go away and my oldies farm borders the bush for the powerline track it prob will need strut brace but iff all goes to shit I'll just continue looking for a 4agze and go from there it's only that I have the conversion that I thawt I'd try it |

Also the only diff I can seein the cv is that the vit diff side has very narrow spline as the lock end is maybe 1mm diff in diameter to triton one I mean the week spot would be the vit diff end? |

If the vitara CV's are only a tiny bit smaller than the Triton CV's then the Triton CV's are going to be too weak as well. It's not hard to break Vitara CV's at all, which is why the Hilux CV conversion is well worth the effort. Steve. |

Well the spline is much larger in the triton. |

Yeah seems retarded that Suzuki would make reasonable shafts then trim the end down so small |

They're stronger than the alloy diff. |

Splines look tough. Get a pic of both axles (vit and triton) at full articulation to compare. Also try and get a pic of the CV cup size comparison. |

Intrested to see how this turns out. Is it going to be engineered? |

Front diff tacked brackets spent to local steel merchant go threw the laser - plasma scrap bin find so many goodies to adapt wen u need to make a bracket next is to modify sump to fit around diff it already has a sheet metal one as it was originaly modified to triton I'm hoping for engeneering but I guess I'll c what happens going to do everything to the 9s |

Every engineer i spoke to just laughed when i told them the plan for my build Non the less, still a cool build if it works |
