Post subject:  F10A EFI Conversion

Hey guys, I recently had troubles with my aisin carb soni decided to go another route and efi the car. The donor car was a complete and running pranged 95 Barina (Opel 1.4l)
I have sussed everything out, having it wired and fuel pump set up. it primes and cranks but Unfortunately it requires a Hall effect cas in the distributor and the dizzy in the car is points. I have another g13 with eletronicndiZy and have put it on the f10a but it's a variable reluctance Style sensor which ouputs a different signal.
Anyone know what f or g series engines run Hall effect dizzies? Or if there is a circuit I can build to convert and amplifiy the signal?

isn't there an EFI version of this motor in other models like the Carry?
might be a better option to get a half cut as long as the block can mate up to the Sierra box hey

The f10a is available with a multi point EFI setup in China. Importing the parts could be quite a hassle, not to mention spares should something play up later on. It is for a carry or something other than Sierra, so the intake manifold points the wrong way for a sierras application.
Which still makes it easier to retrofit something else.

If you haven't solved this yet then I would suggest a Vitara EFI dizzy

Is the vitara distributor a drop in fit into a g13 (and f10a)?



I have found this thread which suggests the 1.3 dizzy will work with some modifications (bypass the internal igniter and run an external one) http://www.auszookers.com/forum/viewtop ... =5&t=41393

I have picked up a TBI setup, thought to be from an import 1.3 engine, to fit to my F10a so will be going through the process myself in the coming weeks. The distributor/CAS setup is the only grey area for me as it didnt come with one. But I'm sure I'll find a work around.

The 1991-on 1.6 TBI distributor will fit and is a hall-effect distributor, the later 8Vs 97/98-on had the integral coil and ignitor as fitted to the 16V.

Well it's in and running, and running quite well. Turns out the TBI setup I got is a fuel only control so ignition stays simplified. The ECU does read a pulse from the dizzy, but I think it's only looking for that a a safety for fuel pump supply (engine stops, fuel pump cuts out etc). And the pulse signal from the 1.3 electronic dizzy works fine.

upon firing it up I could get it to rev up slowly, but to go straight to WOT it would hesitate and flutter, massively overfuelling was found to be the cause, an adjustable fuel pressure reg was fitted to drop fuel pressure from 45psi! Down to 30psi. With the lower fuel pressure it runs great. Revs really nicely and seems to have a bit more power low in the rev range/off idle.

It's idling a little high and I'm not sure of the cause at the moment, but it's not enough to overly concern me.

I have pics on Facebook I'll try and get some onto here.

I was told it was thought to be from an import G13 TBI engine, but the wiring diagrams I could find for G13 TBI weren't a complete match up for my wiring/ECU pinouts. But I found a wiring diagram for a G16 TBI which is a complete match.

Heres some pics of my setup.

I dont yet have any of the manifold adaptor plate, or of the manifold. but I have bored the manifold throat out to about 45mm to match the throttle body. standard throat size was only about 32mm. more air + more fuel = more power........ hopefully.
