I picked a new (to me) mig welder last weekend and I what better first job then to knock up a trolley for it.

The plan is to put the mig on the bottom, my little high frequency pulse tig with a box for my welding rods on a shelf in the middle, then a tray on the top. Going to make it wide enough to fit both gas bottles for the mig and tig on the back.

Hopefully it should end up being a bit of a complete welding station.

As far as I got this afternoon before my neighbor called and needed me to help him with an emergency.

There was way too many beers in his fridge, but don’t worry, we emptied it sufficiently... ;D

I’ve used some ply on the shelves for now, didn’t want to cut up my sheet of alloy until I knew it was all going to work.

Under the welder?

Was going to use 50mm mesh on one side of the tig so it can’t fall out.
I guess the tig is lite enough to go on mesh. But the mig is pretty heavy and it needs to able to slide in and out in case I have to take it to other people’s places.

Got everything framed up and ready to start lining the top tray, shelves and rod box. As luck would have it, the 12v heating element out of one of my old pie warmers just happens to fit inside the base of the rod box. ;) Should get rid of the moisture in my low hydrogen rods on those damp/muggy days just nicely. :)

Safety chains for the gas bottles are nice and safe too....

Looking nice Pete.

When my workshop is done I'll have to do something similar... that's if I can get my MIG back...

Haha, isn’t there a saying with something about sharing tools and girlfriends??? ;) :D

Cut all the checker plate for the work surfaces and flat plate for the sides and dividers.

Got a few more leads and cables to hang with these, so thinking to mesh this whole side of the trolley and bend up as many hanging hooks as I need.

And just because it’s Friday night, thought I might as well break the seal on a Lively one so I can sit and admire this awesomeness for a while.... :D

Haha, cheers mate.
I’ve got a pretty long list of things to make for the tin top first.
Let’s call it practice for when that LJ comes along.... ;)
