Heres a build thread of my rear drawers that me and my brother made a few months back They are made from 12mm marine ply, I covered them with automotive balck carpet from bunnings (the same stuff that all the other interior carpet is done with) and some aluminum edging to give it a nice finish I also put down a rubber mat to minimise rub between wood and tub. I sealed all the wood with some shite that dad had in the garage, he's a painter so we had plenty of good stuff to do the job Heres the base and the gables
I added on a little centre console for extra cab storage space
here's with the drawers in, (i ran out of the darker stain on the drawers, hence why they are darker then framework)
and finally with the top on, added the aluminium trim on for a better finish
i used gate latches and padlocks for extra security, they're not the best option but they'll do for now untill i decide to improve them. I also cut out hatches above the wheel arches to utilise extra storage space in there and some tie down hooks to secure everything down. I hope this helps anyone whose considerung making there own rear drawers Joe |

nah mate just left a small gap between the frame and the drawers and run a strip of wax along the bottom of each side to reduce friction, they slide in and out really easy, even when fully loaded with camping gear. |

Nice, I like the pad locks. Have you made the sides accessable. If you do take out the side trims this will create more stage room for misc. items. Space is valuable in Sierras don't waste any. Rear speakers do bugger all now though. |

yeah the space above the wheel archers is accesible form the top, i cut out hatches after the photos, there a good spot for regular use stuff that was a hassle to unlock drawers for each time for (e.g. towels, sun cream etc.) plus like you said any extra space is always good in a zook. i did lose out a little from the speakers after i carpetted them, but they still put out a decent sound. i can hear them fine on the high way with the windows down so they are doing the job haha i put them in before the drawers for campfire music, perfect position cause they can be aimed at where ever your sitting. |

the gables are screwed and glued to the base, the top and back are just screwed on so they can be easily removed |

Good job Similar to mine, i went with the snug fit and wax job. And the top just unscrews and it all comes apart easy for removal.
