GV's have wider chassis rails, hence the diff brackets not lining up &vit diff brackets are cast steel.
the GV LHS axle is longer due to the offset caused by the vacuum actuator does the RHS CV stay seated?

Can that pinion support block be found in a vitara rear diff? Doing the install on my sierra front atm and its 2 pinion. Think I threw it out when I removed it from the rear to fit a mini spool dammit.

My Vit rear pin block looked exactly like a Sierra one, so I'd guess it would fit. But that from memory, twas a long time ago when I re shimmed the lock rite.

Heres an update.
That block is useless, Only will cause issues i reckon floating around in there just jamming things up.
I was under the impression that the 2 spacer rings sat up against it but that is not the case.
But anyways, its in there in a 2pinion carrier. Not sure on how well it unlocks it self seems to not rachet much if any offroad in the front of my sierra. On a good note that means its not noisey haha.

It will free up with use, expect a bit of tightness at first. The block stops side gears from moving with coupler gears, I believe

Hey guys. Ive just read through the whole thread and found the whole thing honestly daunting and somewhat confusing. I've just bought a '98 vitara jx 4door. I'm guessing from what I've read that the stock front alloy diff housing is the most straight forward to fit the sierra locker into, how likely is it to break apart once it's locked though? And I haven't the faintest idea how many splines etc the front has.

Alloy diff breakage can happen with and without lockers fitted. So I believe the answer is, depends on how you drive and what tracks you drive. I have seen more breakages without lockers, from a spinning wheel in the air suddenly landing on the ground.. But hard turning under acceleration on rocks for example can break an alloy diff. There are ways of strengthening alloy diffs, if you wish to try it. I'd recommend steel diff when you can afford. My 93 is 22 spline, not sure when 26 spline came in. Look in Bullet proof Vitara front diff thread, useful info in there. Also search for alloy diff as lots of info will come up.

Hey guys, sorry for the ridiculously late reply. Got distracted rebuilding my engine after an "adventurous" trip up billy goats bluff.
That's the dash I've got. So the builds that have been described on here are for the 22spline set ups. How much different is that internally to the 26?
