You fitted a locker to didn`t you? Is it possible that the c`clip isn`t locking into the diff at all?
Once the bush is made (bruce`s) i`ll pull my diff out & f*#k around with the bush to make sure it lock`s in, then give the modified 1 to bruce to mas produce..

Let ya`s all know..

that CAD file is not what you want to make the nylon bush up to... if you're gonna make one up yourselves, you'll have to work out your own sizes, what i was questioning was how effective does the nylon bush support the cv, or would a propper bearing, and machined holder, be more successful, this is also what calmini have put in their anvil housing.

Yeah, I've a locker up front. But surely ARB engineered the lockers to accommodate the circlip!? What else holds the shafts in? The circlip locks into the side gears correct? Do these get swapped out when a locker is installed?

what problems does the play cause ?[/quote

It can allow the cv to move around slightly as it is only retained by the splines that go into the side gears of the diff, which is only a real problem under extreme load. Aparently it has also lead to excessive seal wear on gv's that don't have free wheeling hubs fitted.

True, but if the play is there, let`s get rid of it, I think a bearing is overkill.
This bush will do the job nicely.. 8)

That`s my thinking, it`s only a slight wobble, just enough to let oil out, then the diff run`s dry & bang, I`ve seen it a couple of time`s, thay didn`t have freewheel hub`s tho..
I`m doing it as a precaution only, & so others can get the bush cheap.....

I got the impression the bearing was integrated into the Calmini Anvil Housing due to the design running a short stab axle so both LHS and RHS driveshafts were the same and removed the need to carry multiple spares. Given the Calmini Anvil is designed for the 1.6 early vits (which have either Auto or free hubs) I wouldn't have thought the shaft wear was an issue? Just thinking out loud here.....

Although mine has a body lift and suspension lift, the diff and cv's are stock and mine leaks like all buggery. I have to top it up every time I drive it. Keen to make it stop.

running a short stub axle which the cv bolts to would be the the same as running the standard cv imho. I dont want it for seal wear, which is what i think the nylon bush was designed for as most of the time my hubs will be unlocked. i wanted to reduce the possibility of the inner cv moving around under load :?

Same thing mate, cv move`s wearing (or damaging) seal, seal leak`s causing diff to blow up. Stop cv moving & seal don`t wear.
The bush will work.
Suzuki wouldn`t sell it as a fix other wise

Sounds interesting....

Mine isn't leaking but i can feel some play in the shaft

I'd be interested in getting one of these seals too! better to have it in there and avoid problems later. 8)

As there are a few of us building up tougher vitaras, and mines currently under construction, ive been thinking about a few mods to the front end to increase its strength. Most of us now have swapped over to a steel gv housing and carrier, and fitted an ARB air locker. next on the list to give up would be the cv's.

Polar was originally taking about making the whole front end stronger, not stopping it from leaking.
I think that making a short axle like the one that fits in an Anvil is a good solution to both problems. I am about to start playing around with this idea but from what I have read, there is not enough room with a passengers side CV and an axel, the Anvil is a different size to accomodate this.

Gee talk about push
Mould may take at least a week to machine up at best. Then make a part (quick) so mid next week will be way out of the question. Maybe by the following mid next week.

So no hurry Bruce, but what`s taking so long??

I can copy it no worries but using the part I have will be too small.
By the time i make the mould from that part, then make a part from that mould it will be the incorrect size. Remember the shaft needs to fit in there so the centre part will be too big and the out side will be too small.
I can made the part no worries but we need to make a ally or steel mould which is 2% larger to allow for this. I have told Tim the price to do this and left it in his hands. We don't make steel moulds, we get our machine guy to do that.
I can if you want make the mould and make a part from that but I am 99.999999% sure I will be wasteing my time and it won't work. The last thing I need is someone to ring me saying that the dam thing is shit and failed and your produce is crap. I have a very good rep with poly parts but don't like to do crap work.
