I had a crack in the line right near the diff fitting. So I've pulled it off an trimmed it back. However now I can't get the brass fitting over the line - let alone then get that pin (which is not ment to be bent?) back through it again... any tips, I've tried heat gun but its not really making much difference. |

pick up the new brass bits from arb. you can bodge it up but it wont last. |

even if I get new brass bits I'm still going to have to get the circular part over the line? |

that circular part is called an olive, its designed to squash over the line to seal and it one use, ARB will give you a new one in teh bulkhead kit |

to add a but of tech into here, the little adaptor bit that the line pushes into, if you unscrew it from teh other bit thats tapped into teh diff housing, its a 3/8 UNC thread, which happens to be the thread for a 3/16" compression fitting cap, so grabbing a 3/16" compression joiner and screwing it in will let you run much cheaper and easier to get line, or using a bsp to 3/16 fitting you can use a long grease gun extension as a cheap heavy duty line |

interesting, I haven't brought the parts yet - they quoted me $20 which didn't really surprise as ARB know how to charge. Having never heard of a long grease gun extension can you tell me more about that? Otherwise what sort of line would you use as it would have to withstand oil? I found a little oil in the line I took off. |

if you have oil in your line then the 2 seals are gone inside your locker. |

mine sprays a bit of oil in my hilux but not enough for me to want to rip the diff out for a little o ring. one reason not to have it in your cab,end up spraying misty oil back out the solenoid i paid $12 for a full fitting kit mate.the new kits dont come with that sleeve up the air line tho do they?or something on them changed,maybe done away with the olive setup. and my front locker has one of the heavy duty kits with the JIC hose end and larger hose |

Any air/hyd hose place will have them. Prob cheaper too! |

I was looking at the install .pdf recently and I'm 95% sure it mentioned you will get oil right up to the solenoid from oil vapour. |

So when I went to ARB I found out they didn't have in-stock, quoted about $20 for the kit (1 end of 1 line). Thanks to Royce for the idea, I then went around the corner to 'Pacific Compressed Air' in Maroochydore, guy was a champ as I didn't have bits on me he gave me 2 olives, smallest metric and imperial, to try see if they fit. They didn't, so went back the next day an he recommended going to a 1/4inch setup as the fittings are really common. $13 for all the bits needed to change both lines, 4 x fittings with downsizing adapter at each end and all the nylon line for front and back... not only really good price, he was really helpful! Yet to fit everything but fingers crossed it'll all go smooth. |
