To start i have done a search im just getting all the info i can together so i can do it all on my day off this week.

i have noticed that my car has been smelling more like fuel then ever and fuel usage is higher than normal.

specs - 91 sierra soft top, 1.3 carby, 2 inch body, 31's, 4.9s and rear spartan.

the exhaust has a straight pipe out the back.

things i have read that i am going to do are:

1- check filters
2 - put dump pipe on end of exhaust ( will this help )
3 - check for holes in exhaust. ( does exhaust putty work )
4 - check all rubber plugs are in the body ( if missing where to get replacements? )

i have read that the little screw usualy has cover on it that is located below the hot idle screw is the one i use to
fix the running rich situation is this CORRECT?

my brother was following me the other day and i was giving it a bit to get up to 100kmh and he said he could smell fuel really bad.

cheers in advance

Ricky

Check the breather port on the fuel pump. If it is leaking anything then it needs to be replaced.

disconnect the tank vent from the charcoal canister, if that solves the smell then check the lines from the
plastic box thing that is inside the car on the inside of the fuel filler.

my old hardtop stank of fuel fumes badly and it was a crack in the plastic tank thing.
