G'day all. Have just been offered a set of Simex Centipedes in 29"x7.5"xR16 for the XL7 i'm currently building up. They wouldn't have even been on the radar but a previous customer has reneged on a deal and they want them gone at $220 a pop. On wednesday the lift goes in and I think they might fit. Had a look at other threads and they appear to be fairly well thought of off road (and I reckon they will look the business) but as this vehicle is still pretty much to remain a daily drive I'm wondering what the thoughts of you good people would be on living with them on a daily basis. Car does very little highway stuff (ie rarely does over 80kmh) unless on weekend trips etc and I have found with other aggressive patterns that noise only really an issue with windows down. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. The set I had sort of settled on was the Bridgestone D697's but these have now confused the issue. Cheers in advance for any assistance.

205/80/16 by any chance? if so expensive for what they are in general as its not a common off road size... If you have to have a 16" rim how bout 235/85 (32/9.5)

Just done the maths 205 is "around" 8.5 - they are some small skinny tyres for a vit

Ace, i'd say they're a 29x7.5-15" 6PR as listed here http://www.dynamictyres.com.au/OurTyres ... Tyres.aspx

Bloody hell. They do appear to be skinny Ace and Atari. Cheers for pointing that out. Might stick with the 235 70 16 d697's I was offered for the same price for then.

Honestly I just like getting called "Ace".

7.5 in a 16"rim sounds odd and expensive for a vit. 235 etc.... and common sizes are much easier-cheaper to find / replace

I priced up some 205 16s KL71s to replace the front of my old ute - was cheaper to buy 4 2nd hand rims and get 31's for the front..rears were extra

With regards to the Simex the noise alone would give me the shits on a DD, for sand they would be average but for 50/50 mud and rock I had a fair bit of success with them.

i daily drove simex ETs - they were SUPER grippy on wet roads, but it sounded like i was being followed by a helicopter =) lol

offroad, they're junk... they're only good in sloppy mud. On everything else you might as well run a highway tread pattern cos it'd give better grip, especially on cross slopes - on cross slopes the simex WILL try to kill you!
