Hi all,
I have a vibration that comes through my steering wheel through every tyre rotation it almost feels as though I am driving over a small pebble each rotation. At higher speeds I can see the tyre not moving in one straight direction (e.g. the tyre moves left to right excessively) Here are the steps I have taken to try and diagnose the problem:
Jacked up front end
Wobbled the tyre 12 and 6 oclock – there is about 1 or 2 ml movement in one tyre
Wobbled the tyre 3 and 9 oclock – if I move the right tyre I can see the left tyre moving in the air also
Spun tyres while car is jacked up – looks straight with and rotates fine with no brakes stopping it in each rotation
Check for King Pin and =Wheel Nut tightness
Rotate tyres – Problem still persists
Recorded my car from underneath while driving – can see the diff axle skip slightly at each rotation
While the car was jacked up I noticed one of the tyres is sitting at a positive camber position while the other is dead straight.
This is a Suzuki sierra with newly balanced Silverstone xtremes – not aligned yet but previously had an alignment with a different set of tyres
Can anyone tell me what else I can check before biting the bullet and taking it to the wheel alignment shop? I just want to cover everything off before spending money to get this looked at. I don’t want to take it to get a wheel alignment to find that I had to do something else + get another wheel alignment. Can 1 positive Camber front tyre cause a rotation skip?

No. My guess is a bent rim or an out of round tyre. An out of round tyre might still balance fine, that doesn't mean it won't feel wonky on the road. Ditto a bent rim. Both should be picked up by the tyre fitter doing the balance but not necessarily.

Have you done wheel bearings recently? Sounds pretty similar to what mine was doing, especially the tyre moving about while diving. Turns out my wheel bearings where very shot!

I did suspect a bent rim or out of round tyre which is why I rotated the tyres front to back and it ended up doing the same thing which got me stumped

Might look at wheel bearings and see how it goes from there. i thought moving the wheel from left to right when jacked up would be a good indicator of whether i needed to do wheel bearings or not.

You haven't knocked a weight off??? Your bearings are pretty much new but don't rule em out just yet.... Pull it apart and check and clean and repack em and check the races are good
