The Android OS boots in less than 30 seconds. If the radio was in use when the unit was powered down, it will start to play instantly while it boots on start up. The reverse cam also works without waiting for the system to start. Pretty happy with it, the only problem has been the voice guideance doesn't work on the pre-installed igo app, which I read is a common fixable software issue.
Which model have you got? I've noticed a couple that run Windows CE as well as Android - I'm guessing that type would boot up quicker?
I can highly recommend the Sygic GPS app for Android- it will cost around AUS$30 but updates are free. I've got it on my phone and it is soooo much better than my 2010 vintage Kenwood double DIN head unit with built in Garmin GPS. PS: Out of interest the Kenwood boots up a lot quicker than 30 seconds - it would be more like 5-10seconds for full functionality.
It's not branded, heaps on fleabay and aliex. From what I've read there are a lot of problems with the Andriod/CE models. The only nav app I would pay for is Tomtom, it's been the only one we have tested that works correctly in the country areas of SA. I just timed the boot up, 14 seconds.
