Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can spare some info on Jimnys.
What's the range of models? is JLX the top of the range?
And what's the difference between the year models. Did the engines change after a certain date?
cheers

jx has no power steering, eleteric windows or eleteric mirrors.
in the older ones the jx had vinal flooring instead of carpet.
wikipedia actually has a cool summary of changes, but not all it is right for our market in AU
JB43, aka Jimny Wide or Jimny Sierra. 2000-current. 1328 cc VVT 16-valve DOHC M13A engine. 3.3.1 New high tech engine, 88 hp (66 kW), replaces JB33 in Japan.[26] 2000.01-00.04 3.3.2 Engine modified. 2000.04-02.01 3.3.3 Name changed back to Jimny Sierra. 2002.01-04.10 3.3.4 Dashboard modified, as is transfer case lever, as per JB23. 2004.10-05.11 3.3.5 Outside mirrors changed, manual headlight adjustment introduced. 2005.11-08.06 3.3.6 Minor dash and air conditioner changes, air-locking hubs added. 2008.06-2012 3.3.7 Facelifted model with new grill and bumper. Bonnet scoop and ISOFIX added. 2012-current
in 2005 in Australia the m13came here, before that it was the g13BB
with the m13 came the 1;1 manual transfer and 4.3 diffgears

2005+ VVT DOHC m series engines. if your looking at them to buy, you may wanna go a M series for engine swapability
can swap in M15,m16 and M18 (1.5, 1.6 &1.8 L respectively) engines in a day or with the right tools
older SOHC you can get G16B engines to swap in, but they are probably geting rarer.
do you have a Jimny atall? they arenot the bees knees off road if thats what yor looking for. go allright but

Easy way to spot a JLX is the inclusion of roof rails.
Pre 2000 models have no airbags, they were introduced with the model change in 2000.
2005 has a crossover model which was a combination of pre VVT style and equipment and the new model.
VVT saw a new dash, front bumper and new seats/fabric, plus as Jezza mentioned the new gearbox/ratios plus a push button transfer.
