Hi ppl...im doing up my first sierra..ive decided i want to do it on the cheap so i can get some use out of it
Before i spend more money... im not going to much around with reduction gears or bigger wheels.
So considering i want to do mostly steep rocky slow off road stuff..should i go a pair of 215 75 15s
Or am i best off keeping to the stock 205 70 15s....i like the idea of bigger tyres but not if its going to affect my low low gear.

215's will be fine, and they'll give you a small amount of extra height

Even if your going cheap, I would think once it's ruining well and you have tyres , gears would be next on the list of good mods to do. Abd if your only going to run smaller tyres gears are kind of cheap, just saying don't right of gears to early , they are awsome.

If you are trying to save some cash keep an eye out for secondhand tyres. Heaps of people sell tyres with plenty of life left when they upgrade to larger sizes. I've bought a couple of sets of 215/75R15 MTs at good prices over the last few years. Sierras are great on tyre wear and it's not uncommon for tyres to get too old to use while still having heaps of tread.

Yeah ill keep an eye out i seen some mad looking kumhos tyres on ebays for 150 a pop and they looked heaps meaty they were advertised as muds

steep rocky slow stuff and small tyres won't go great together. lockers are going to get your further than tyres at this point =)

I would keep an eye out for cheap gears considering your terrain. Geared with the biggest tyres you can fit and low will be best

I recon u need gears with stock tires let alone bigger ones if ur driving steep rocky hills

Yep gears even with stock tires if you're driving steep country.

Constantly stalling going down hill or revving it's tits off and slamming into everything going up hill gets pretty tiring pretty quickly.

Gears sounds like it will be my next plan..
