Hello all I have done my wish list for the year for the mighty zooki. Need some help though I want to go to 33s as a goal and already saving for new ratios for transfer however what offset do I need to run bigger and hence wider tyres. I have just 10.5 tyres on stock rims now and rub out with wheel lock. I don't mind if I have to go to 16 inch rims to make life easier I just want some information so I go the right direction.. I'm not to worried about bead locks I don't plan on to much crawling with it but want the clearance and ability to do it. Thanks for the help

Depends on what look you want. Also I would run 33x10.5 unless you want wider rims for a particular reason

I hopefully be getting 32 * 11.5 from my brothers cruiser as he is upgrading so after rims that will fit them ok.. I know some guard modifications could be required to make them fit properly. Just don't like the idea of running tyres that size on standard rims

You can't run anything over 215 wide on standard rims, although some people do run 235's.

10.5" wide tyres require 7" rims as a minimum.
11.5" wide tyres require 8" runs as a minimum.

Most definitely shouldn't run 11.5's on a standard rim.

I am currently running 235/80R15 on stock rims and they are 9.25" wide. I get a bit weary when letting them down or doing high speeds. Whilst not ideal, it is possible.

However 100% agree with Steve. You need rims atleast 8" wide.

Since this has not been addressed, I'll give it a go.

Changing the offset - or wheel backspacing - can help with some tyre clearance issues. Unfortunately, it also creates other problems - especially on the front axle.

When you move the inside face of the wheel center towards the inside edge of the wheel - or increase the wheel offset, you effectively move the tyre outwards creating a broader stance. This also adds to the distance from the inside edge of the tyre and the frame giving you more room to turn before the tyre contacts the frame. This causes the clearance distance between the tread face of the tyre and the wheel well to be reduced when the wheels are turned. It also causes the tyre to stick out past the body - which will attract the attention of the local police...

If that were not bad enough, putting the weight of the larger-than-stock tyre farther outboard from the hub bearings puts more stress on the bearings...

While installing wheel spacers does almost the same thing as backspaced wheels, there are some folks - including governmental entities - who think wheel spacers are unsafe for use on the public highways.

Obviously, getting the optimum offset is a tricky proposition mostly involving geometry maths and measuring - which is probably why the topic has not been discussed here... (I had to take Geometry twice back in secondary school...)

If you do buy wheels for larger tyres, try to get matching wheels with the distance from the inside face of the wheel center and the inside edge of the rim that match or is a centimeter or so less to slightly compensate for the width of the new tyres. BEWARE of the problems that are mentioned above that are created by doing this!

Thanks that does... I have been offered some cheap feroza sure raisers... With out being being able to actually bolt them on the car will they fit correctly I know I have to flare the car as they are 15*7 but I dare say my 10rs will like them better then now

Pretty sure feroza offset won't be ideal for a Sierra. Rim should physically fit though.

i run 15x7 -38mm rims with 31x10.5s and get great life from my wheel bearings. Current rears are about 2 years old, and fronts around 1.5 years. It was water crossings and mud that killed them.

Silverstone MT117 Xtreme are available in 33/9.5R16, fit on a 6.5 to 8.5" rim.
Go nicely on my RR classic & might even go better on my Sierra LWB - if I ever finish it!.

15x7 isn't a stock size for a Feroza (not an early one anyway) so they could have any sort of offset - more than likely a 'Sierra' rim that happens to fit a Feroza, than a 'Feroza' that will fit on a Sierra.

Just put the rums on the zooki Yay they fit but definitely need to do some guard work now
