HI All
I love it that you have a flame proof zone I'll probably need it!

As an intro I am not really into hardcore 4WD thats why I still have my 1984 subaru. However I have bought a bush block thats mostly pretty rough and no chance of getting the subi around there.
I need some kind of small ute to maitain tracks and carry water for tree planting and glyphosate for weed spraying
So my question is

I I get a seirra It never needs to go on the road and it never needs to go over 20-30ks an hour
I want to put the biggest wheels possible for clearance over rocks and getting through the gullies
is there a way of having super low ratio without buying the 6.5 gears for the transfer cause that's a 1000+ I could be spending on trees and glyphosate

Run smaller tyres and weld the rear diff, add an auto-locker to the front and it should bounce over most things in it's path..

If you REALLY need clearance, tcase gears are the only way to sufficiently reduce your low range. You might find an already geared case for sale on here though?

IMO there isn't much benefit, and lots of problems associated very large tyres.. Good tread on roughly 30's, put a 1ltr transfer case in. That's your easiest and most effective way. Shouldn't need body cutting etc, will still handle fine and will still be useful on the hwy. Doesn't cost the earth.

I do a small amount of spraying with an 80's SWB Pajero that's had the top cut off it and the sprayer tank is sitting on a frame I made for the back, this thing was free and I cant be bothered to fix the 4wd because the second I spend time on it, it will of course poop itself. It works acceptably.

I really think if you can find a sierra ute and fit 27 to 30 inch mud terrains and a 1 litre case, you'll be fine.

If it isn't and it's because it's lifting wheels and spinning them in the air going over rocks and bumps, just auto lock or weld the rear. Also, run your tires fairly flat, it makes the biggest difference with any car (I'm sure you knew this anyway)
