Hi there

long time lurker, first time poster

After wanting one for a while i finally purchased a 2008 Suzuki Jimny JLX, which i am absolutely chuffed with!

My goal is to turn it into camping/adventure rig without pouring every cent into it.

Firstly i would like to mount a roof rack/basket, however my jimny did not come with roof racks from the factory and therefore doesn't have any mounting bolts.

My question is what is the best way to mount a roof rack on top of a jimny that does not have roof rail mounts in place?

Thank you

Should still have the mounting points in the roof channel?

Have a look at ZN's Jim for some ideas

I thought that as well but there are no holes, studs or anything else in the roof channel.
Are there brackets that can clip into the channel somehow?

I thought all JLX models had roof racks. Do you have carpet, central locking, electric windows, etc?

Anyway, if you don't have any mounting point for roof racks this is the best way to go about getting them.

Pending OP location, QLD jimnys got a mixed bag of options. For example Skippy's 2011 had carpet, yet no power steer or roof racks. Apparently it was only QLD that had these oddball ones.

You could always nutsert and run the OEM rails?

Rihno have a mount system that involves riveting a track to the roof and then mourning the bars ect to that. I had it in my old Subaru
