Hey guys
Just wondering what the best way to find out what ratio my diff is in my vitara? A mate told me it said on the diff housing but i couldn't find it anywhere.

A 1995 SWB vitara will have 5.12 diff ratios assuming it is 1.6 engined.
If it is a 2.0litre it's going to depend on transmission.

The auto swb has diffrent ratio I think ? This was the case with my wife's 1990 g16a swb. They were 5.29 or 4.6 or something strange like that.

That's why I said "1995"
1990 swb Vitara- manual 5.12, auto 4.6. By 1995 the car should be EFI so both ratios are 5.12. 2.0 litre cars are different- I don't recall their ratios off hand.

Its a SWB 1995 SWB vitara. 1.6 EFI. Having trouble finding the 5.12 that I need because nobody knows how to tell the difference.

5.12s are literally the most common vitara ratio and as such, they are very easy to find.

Is the diff out of the axle - count the teeth - ring gear teeth divided by pinion teeth = ratio.
Is the diff still in the car - jack one wheel off the ground, mark the tire & drive shaft, rotate the wheel TWO full turns and count the number of turns on the drive shaft.
