Looking to fit a solid battery to my Vit for winching.
I cant see how I squeeze much bigger than 450cca in the standard position due to the brake booster.

Not real keen on relocating the booster.
Next brain fart I had was putting 2 poles for the factory starter cables (To minimise hacking things up, and give me a point to grab power for a future compressor), and extending them to passenger side where the second battery normally lives.

Has anyone got any better ideas?

And what amps would the G16 pull when trying to start so I can size my cable properly? google has anywhere from 100 - 250amps.

It is possible to get an gD34 Optima in the stock position, just. A little bracket needs to be removed or something from memory, no big deal.

So I remeasured and then made a cardboard template.

This is looking from the engine back to the strut tower.
With one end hard against the brake booster.

Hits the strut tower with far to much to do a gentle clearance.

Footprint is a firm 150mm wide by 255mm long.
200mm height is safe.

It’s pretty hard to see in that photo but remember optimas have very rounded corners. The corners have about a 35mm radius.

Not close enough to gamble.
I’ve been told by the winch manufacturer I want closer to 900cca for optimum.

A pair of these either side of engine bay in parallel might be my solution..
Can’t find stated weight but similar is 12.5kg
So not silly excessive.

Then I can either run a 500amp continuous duty solenoid or a VSR and 2 solenoids at the winch end.

I had a stare again at this the other day. It 'may' be possible laying the battery flat, relocating the main fuses and packing the battery tray up 50mm or so and having the battery half on top of the strut tower.

For those following, I went with a pair of D51's either side of the engine bay, and a 500a winch isolator in the middle. with midi fuses either end.
