Hey

have just bought a early G16a Vitara and have some questions

It needs a carb the one that is on it is not original and is missing the choke assembly making cold idle an issue

my question is what options are available for the carb
do Suzuki still sell originals?

also the car needs door cards
how hard to find are JLX door cards

Matt

I think you can still buy genuine carbys from Suzuki but the $$ is going to be way up there.
I have researched heaps on this, and for road used cars the only real option is to retain an original carb.
The stock carbs are prone to issues as they are getting old, but you can still buy all the replacement parts for them and I would highly recommend that you get a professional to rebuild the carb for you as they can tweak things including putting a more responsive secondary diaphragm on it..
I have driven countless Vitaras and I can personally say 80% have carby issues and once you've driven one with a rebuilt carby you wont regret it. they go almost as hard as an EFI.

The JLX door cards were prone to falling apart. You'll just have to keep an eye out for people parting out a car to see if you can find decent ones.

Are you able to go more into this, and any other tweaks you think should be done?

I've got a literal carb guru around the corner from me, and I assume he'll know all this but if I can prompt vehicle specific stuff as well it would be amazing.
