Hey guys,

Ive been amassing parts for a 5 speed swap on my 02 jimny and have hit my first hiccup. I have just got my flywheel machined and the spigot bearing pulled so I replaced it with a new one only to find out its not the right one, my question is there a bearing I can bearing to fit or do I need to get a bush turned up to make this bearing fit.

Non vvti box, possibly vvti flywheel.

I may be wrong as I am still learning the ways of M series comparability, however I believe there are 2 sizes as the clutch kit and flywheel part numbers are the same compared to Jimny and Swift's however as you have discovered there is a difference in spigot bearings. Perhaps corresponding to the engine capacity I'm not sure. Best to contact a clutch specialist as they can usually see a breakdown of parts in their listings.
The only further info I can find is there is a spigot bearing available for 1.6-2.0 swift, sx4 LLian

Hi thanks for the reply.

Im at a loss as to why the flywheel I have is different but I offered up the exedy clutch and everything lines up accordingly but the spigot bearing does not. The clutch kit actually came with 2 bearings, one that fits the input shaft but fits like a cock in a sock on the flywheel or the one that fits the flywheel but is nowhere near the right size for the shaft. Its not the end of the world as my old man is always looking for a reason to turn something up to fix a job so hes gonna make a bush that we will have to loctite in and just send it.

I will update the thread when it comes time to offer the flywheel up to the car.

When i did my my m series conversion I used the bearing that is in a Standard sierra clutch kit. My car is 1990 if that helps

I'd forgo the custom bush solution and get the correct sized bearing from your local bearing shop. Measure inside, outside and thickness. It'll be a easily obtained part.

I've also had the incorrect bearing supplied with an exedy clutch kit. (Sq420 gv) Statewide Bearings had the right size in stock.

Ended up going with the bush insert, couldnt find a bearing to suit. One less job and hopefully it holds up. Thanks for the help anyway guys.
