Hey all,

I finally found the car I was looking for! Picked up an LJ50 yesterday that almost cost me more in diesel to go pick it up!! It will go nicely with my SJ40T :D

I'm now searching for a service manual for the LJ50, but can't find much online and don't really trust the ebay listings. Also, would prefer a printed copy.

Does anyone have one or know where I could get one (even digital/PDF)?

Cheers,
Pete

Obligatory pic :)

Thanks guys. I'll keep searching.

In the meantime, is there any way I can find out more about the car? The ID plate is gone, but it still has the chassis number and the engine number visible.

What's the chassis number? I can probably tell you the year.

I have seen an LJ50 manual in PDF but I can't find it now. I got my hard copy on eBay.

Awesome thanks mate. Believe it or not there was a service manual on eBay which I managed to snag last night!

Chassis number is LJ50-100040.

Cheers

Holy shit that's build number 40 as in the 40th LJ50 built! That's by far the earliest one I've heard of! That's something quite special you've got there. :)

Oh wow that's amazing! I had a feeling it was an early one coz the rear lights are the 3 screw type like the lj20s, but I didn't think it was that early!!

Still can't believe how lucky I was to find it in the first place.

Now to get her running

Keep us updated mate. Fwiw the earliest one I'd found before yours was 366!

Will do mate!

Actually got her fired up for the first time today. Found a service manual on eBay which was really lucky. Somehow the leads seem to be 60 degrees away from spec, but she runs now :D

Here's a vid of her running today for the first time since I bought her.

Yep, having the instant notifications on gumtree definitely helped!

Great nick is subjective lol. It needs new floor pans, most electrical is missing outside of dash and ignition. All in all for what I wanted it for it's pretty much perfect :)

I don't know that it'll ever see the road again. One day I'll try to find out about it's history in terms of registration etc.
