I'm sure this is a noob question even though I can't find anything with the search. Whats the difference between the two engines? Do they share the same bolt pattern or is an adapter required? How hard is the swap into a sierra? Cheers Rob |

Jimny G13BB is a bolt in to Sierra gearbox and engine mounts. Sump needs to be changed. BB is 16V EFI. A is 8V carby. BB being EFI will need loom and ECM from donor car. Superduki had one in his red tintop. I don't know why there aren't more Sierra's with Jimny G series motors in them. |

Thanks Jase, I can get a jimny pretty cheap up here so i was thinking of swapping it over and putting the power steering in. Is it the same gearbox internally or is one stronger than the other? |

As far as I know Jimny and Sierra box use same internals with a different case and shift setup. |

Beautiful, thanks Jase. Is there much of a market for Jimny parts? |

Only the bits you'd want - motor, power steer. Unbroken front CV's for Jimny's are priceless Steve. |

If I wasnt going auto I'd definitely do it if I could easily get a hold of a motor/loom. Are they coil pack like the some of the balenos? |

No adaptor. EFI, 16v With that wreck, jimny power steering. |

cons other than not same power as a 1.6? it sounds like a good way to get EFI, etc without having to get engineer cert, etc for a G16B |

how would the jimny engines handle light boost (5-7psi)? internals i mean, ignore the computer side of it |

Someone on here has a boosted jimny. Not sure if it was G series or M series but. |

I doubt the G13BB would handle boost any better than a G13A or B or G16A or B. It is a just a G13 block with a G16B head. Suzuki engines were just never meant to be boosted. (Yeah yeah except F6A). |

I boosted mine 5psi, and disregarding the computer side of things the internals were up to the task, then I sold It to superduki who drove it to qld and sa. You don't need to change the sump over when fitting a g13bb to a sierra. |

I had a look at the jimny this morning. It didn't have power steering so it really defeated half the purpose of doing the conversion and it had 260k on the clock, not 200k like she told me. Shame. |

I've driven quite a few combos in sierras, and here is how I rank them in order of best to worst, judged on overall performance/ reliability/ easy of conversion. G16B G16A 8v TBI G13BA auto (16v EFI coily import ) G13BB M13a (non-VVT) (great power upgrade for a sierra, but totally not woth the effort when the above options are available) F10a G13a Holden V6. The problem I have with the G13BB is that most times, they cost as much to buy a a G16B, have as many kms, but have 14kw less, and only a few more Nm torque than the carby 1.3. So unless you pick it up for a song, you are trading off the much needed power/torque of the G16B for the saving of a few dollars not spent on an adapter kit for the gearbox. |
