drag it up hill with the hand brake on a few clicks for some more resistance, it needs to be spooled on under some actual load. |

i put mine in first gear low range with the hubs locked and motor off, attach the cable to something heavy and winch the car to it. |

do you actually have to use that much load? i just wind mine on through my hands keeping a firm grip. my rope is 30m by 10mm aswell. must be some thing else wrong eaither you have a small winch, barrel is too big or not enough space between the barrel and the bars that join motor and gearbox. |

No you don't have to use a hill. Put it to another car and either drag the car to you or the other way around. |

yep wounded the rope into to much to often after the hook hit the fair lead and snaped the rope of the drum |

Unlike the reel on a fishing rod, you may have to spool in on.It may be bunching up in one place . Use a leather glove. bye |

If you don't spool on under load the rope will be loose on the drum. When you use the winch next, you may only need to unspool 10-15 metres. Then when you winch in under load you will pinch the rope on the drum and it will be very difficult to unspool next time. That is the only disadvantage I have found RE: Rope Vs Cable. |
