Hi guys,
I have just fitted my 4.9 reduction gears in my t-case and bolted it all back in. Every thing seemed to go fine and i had no trouble swapping everything over, however after starting the car i decided to let the transfer idle in neutral just to spin the input drive it all seemed fine until i put it in 4th and 5th and then i get a rather loud knocking sound its only just there with 4th and when i pull the rev's up a little it seems to dissapeer. is this normal , Im thinking not but, I cant ever say i had the transfer in neutral for longer than a second or to befor , and i cant seem to hear it while driving tho i have only been up the drive and back.

Thanks, Jack

Check the jackshaft uni's.

I don't think I've ever used neutral in my Zook transfer. Just no need for it.

X2.

The noise could be normal for a gearset when spinning at high speed without load. But who knows? Nobody bothers to drive 4th and 5th through their case in Nuetral, as there is no point. :?
