Socket sets come in handy.
Different sizes of tube.
Different thickness plate.
Sections of RHS.

Don't expect to much from a supercheap press, i threw my one out and bought a 20 ton press that was only $150 more then the 6 ton one

thanks lads, Yeah, im not expecting the world from it. but it was on special for 119, and ive needed one for something or other a few times in the last 6 months.
Plus ive spent way too much coin on car stuff lately so wanted to keep the costs down a bit. Should be alright for the odd job though.

I got a few bits of scrap and some pretty hefty angle iron i can cut some strips off. I might pop down to the local scrappy for a poke around, failing that i might grab some assorted offcuts from some of the steel suppliers.

i have a nice socket set so should be right there.

Whered you get ya big mumma jumma from Joe?

yeah that looks pretty good actually.
Oh well, ill see how this cheapo goes.
I subscribe to the theory of, "If my cheap tools break, i can justify buying good ones. otherwise theyll be ok" works pretty well for me so far, havent had to replace much really. and Its the best way to justify costs to the missus, she doesnt argue one bit about it if i have broken cheap tools.

I have a 6 tonne SuperCrap press and while I have bent the upper frame it is still working.
Only real drama with it is the short throat makes it impossible to do bearings on long shafts.

I have an older super cheap 6t press, looks very similar to Joes press but with a smaller jack, four years on and it is still going strong. The only problem is it lacked the brace/handle on the sides of the table that Joes one has, easy enough to fix though.

As for height when doing axles, just put the press on some wheels.

Put it up on a work horse or on some milkcrates.

It's not the hight it's the frame wont allow an axle to slide in from the top with out fouling on the top of the frame

It works for Sierra axles so I'd say his jimny axles will be similar?
