| Post subject: | turboing a 93 sierra |
g'day, im new to this site and have had my suzuki for about 6 weeks. its a 93 soft top sierra and is stock as a rock, its my every day car so i dont want to do any mods to extream, im going to get a bit of 4x4ing under my belt before i work out what mods to do. the only thing i can fault with it is lack of power on the road, it sits on 100 to 110km on the flat but going up hill the best i can get is about 60 to 70km. i dont want to do a engine swap at this time as money is tight so a mate said to put a turbo on it. a mate has a turbo of a 1200 datsun motor that was running about 5-6psi i can have, from what i have seen on here i would not want to run any more then that. the set up has the carby on the inlet side of the turbo so it sucks through the carby into the turbo into the inlet, i have not heard of this type of set up before so if any one has seen this setup or used it could you let me know how it went, also any other tips on fitting a turbo would be great. also would i be better to fit a super charger rather then a turbo? cheers |

fit a G16a, will be cheaper than a turbo set up any day of the week & be 100% reliable. |

Atari4x4 is right turbo is by no means a cheap alternative, there is a lot more involved than bolting a turbo on. |

cheers guys, i was thinking turbo because i have every thing to fit it up and it will cost me nothing, i wont have the funds for an engine transplant for a good 6 months. if ya think a turbo really just isn't worth the time and trouble i might just keep it the way it is and put up with the slow up hill runs, thanks for the input |

its not about just bolting every thing on because you have every thing, the internals and tunning is were the money goes into. |

I will guarantee you won't have close to everything, for starters the turbo sierras I know of have special pistons with the tops machined down to decompress the engine, modified sump to accept the turbo oil return line, custom turbo manifold etc etc. |

you will get used to the lack of power and when you get offroad you will understand a bit more about how your car doesnt suck so much after all. |
