Post subject:  coily suspension lift Q's

hey guys

details: 2' BB 30' tyres 97 coily

what are my best suspension lift options.. looking at 1'-2'

buying a kit online.. or switching/swapping coils/shocks from other spec cars ?

searched through threads, but the old coily never gets much mention, even less of a happy manner ;(

if, its better to switch and swap, what exact parts/model cars go best where?

obviously looking for more travel/comfort.. or whats best for either?

any help appreciated!

I wish I could be more help but this is all I know I had a 2" inch lift from online auto the springs were kings they weren'tTo bad. she moved around in the wind a lot there springs were super soft and never realy sunk over 12 months. The shocks were the let down they were ultima and they were crap the wore out in the first 2 months, I allways. Wished id put rancho adjustables on the front because on road and swayed to much off road she was a flex queen. It was just very weak I would look at aftermarket control arms for it as the coily and jimny ones arnt the best pm fatzook or some one like that. And see if he is willing to make u a set, he sounds well and truly cappable.

Sorry I couldn't give many answers hopefully some one with more exsperiance can help :)

There isn't many options for the front as far as i'm aware.

I have the ultima front struts on both my coilies - they seem OK.

The rear shocks for the ultima coily lift kit are rubbish IMO. Also the ultima lifted kit is only a 30mm lift.

Pedders do 2" rear springs and good length rear shocks for the coily. I think the ones I have are either extra load/heavy duty because they are a bit stiff unloaded but the ride is excellent when the car is loaded to its GVM. I also have lifted front coils but I doubt they are 2" lifted.

I think you are better off speaking to a suspension specialist rather than just buying a kit off ebay so you can specify what springs you want in relation to load carrying.

Another thing to consider would be if you are keeping the sway bar or not. My preference is to keep it fitted, but I think some spacers on the top part which bolts to the chassis would be beneficial.
