Post subject:  Headlight Buzzer?

Hi Everyone!

So after 2 flat batteries i've still not learnt to turn my headlights off when i get out the car...thank for bump starts!
I've done a google search which only came up with overseas results.
From what I read it sounded like vitara's did have the 'hey dumbarse your headlights are on again' buzzer.

Firstly does anybody actually have it in their vitara or did AUS miss out?
If they do where is it located and what does it look like? I'm not sure if mine's just not working or been ripped out.

Thanks for your help :)

My JLX VItara has a headlight buzzer. It doesn't always work as the door switches in mine are worn out (doesn't help that the previous owner wired 2 fluoro lights through them).

Not too hard to make your own headlight buzzer.

My jx has one, nfi if factory or not

Easy as to fit though, get one from supercheap or wherever, power side to the dash light circuit, earth side to the power feed into the cigarette lighter socket, both wires can be accessed at the socket

then if the lights are on but key off it will buzz, door switches working or not.

thanks for all the info everyone.
What do the buzzers look like and where under the dash is it normally?
Royce, that sounds like my best option. I've gotta suss out my door switches because they're not working, so atleast the buzzer would still work :)

get a door switch working first to see if you have a factory buzzer, just pull a door switch out and earth the wire coming out to the body, that will simulate what would happen when the door is open, then turn the lights on and see if it buzzes :)

why dont you buy one of the kits that turn your lights off when you turn ignition off like a subaru. or if your alright at wiring you could probably do it yourself. my 94 estate has a buzzer but door switches dont always work.

Thought i better get back to this one!
Earthed the drivers side wire to the body but nothing happened, no buzzer. Yes, i had the headlights on! :)
Passenger side works perfect, door opens interior light comes on. Drivers side wiring may be screwed somewhere, when the doors open interior lights not coming on.
Might go with Royce's suggestion and buy a buzzer kit...and then sus out why my interior lights not working! I think I need an Auto eleccy to adopt me!

could just be a dicky door switch, pull it & give it a blast with CRC/WD40 while working the switch... that or just swap switches over with the passenger side.

85dB is probably louder than what you'd want for a headlight reminder...
