Hey I'm chucking a stereo in my car and having a bad time trying to find which wire under the dash is the constant power.
I've tried a couple with no luck, seen the wiring diagram online but can't make sense which one is the constant live.

pretty sure it's white with no stripe (off the ignition) but would like someone in the know to confirm this as I'm sick of cutting the insulation off then taping it up.

Cheers

White, without any trace might be a constant from memory.

Grab a simple/cheap wire/lead/cable tester (the one with the little light inside). Attach the alligator clip to a good earth, and stab the pointy end through the wire with the ignition off. If it lights up, it is constant power.

I don't want to say.

I had the accessories from the car to the constant on the stereo and the constant on the car to the accessories on the stereo :S

I am now +1 multimeter ;)

X2

Tho if (you some how managed) to grab the high beam wire (constant power due to neg switching) the radio would turn off when the head lights come on...

So run through all accessories just to check that it is a true constant.
