Hey Everyone, Over the weekend i decided to turn the AC on to keep the dogs cool while we took them to the beach. The majority of the time with the AC switched on it just felt like all I'd done was turn the fan on. No cool air at all. So my question is does my air con needs some fixing or are the old vitara AC's just not that good on hot days? Thanks

Yeah prob just needs a regass how long since you noticed it not blowing cold air? I got my aircon serviced at Jackson's Auto Repairs 252 Brighton Road, SOMERTON PARK Phone: 8376 0899 Email Address: admin@jacksonsauto.com.au Website: http://www.jacksonsauto.com.au SA Mechanical They saved me a bucket load of money 5 years ago, as some quoted between 2700- 4200 to fix a hose that rubbed against the core creating two holes, one hose was $370 from suzuki alone and needed two around $900 for the two. Plus dryer bottle and condenser (which are one unit) + O rings $1400 and Regass $350 (being a XL-7 i have two aircons so it requires alot of gass!) all up they charged $1740 and fixed the hoses by making up there own and even worked out why it happened and prevented it from happening again. I called every aircon service company in Adelaide and they where definatly way out in front of everyone else with knowledge and customer service. Even asked me to come back a few times to check the gass levels and top ups at no charge for a short period after to make sure there work was done right... cant beat that.. The 89 vit has a much simpler aircon than mine, regass would prob be around the $150mark if completely out. |

I was thinking regas but wanted to check if maybe they're just not a very good air con. The weather was cold when I bought it so I don't think i bothered to check. This is the first time i've really tried using it. Normally I just put the window down but the husky was giving me death stares so thought it would be in my best interest to try! |

Lol, always comes down to the husky i know what you mean i need to fix my rear aircon as my husky always tries to get to the front of the car, i like to keep all the fluff flying around the back of the car and not in my face  Aircon service places can tell you pretty quick what to expect from your aircon, and give free quotes. |

The overheat cut off sender wire may have fell off. Or sender buggered. It stops the AC running, but turns on its compresser fan Are you sure compresser is spinning. |

I regassed with HyCool gas. Older gas systems need upgrading to run the new R34 gas, but don't to run Hycool |

Hopefully just regas. Compressor and/or condensor might have given up...30-odd year old components now. |

I took my 95 Vitara to get regassed and was told it had gas but that it also had "an Electrical Fault" What steps should I take to narrow the problem down? |

As mentioned before there is also a Temperature control that controls the Evaporator Core temp in the car if it gets to cold it turns of the compressor but keeps the core at a preset temperature, its there to stop the core from freezing over. These fail which prevents the Compressor turning on or the gas getting through the Evap core. |

I had a quick look last night before it got dark. There were 2 wires, one that ran off into the loom and headed off to the drivers side and this little guy that was loose. Is this the wire mentioned above and if so where's he meant to live? Attachment: 13122012523a.jpg
