Axle wont go in fully

Currently replacing the axle seals. Have got to the stage where the new axle seal is installed and I've hit a road block - the axle wont go in all the way so that the cv joint sits in the ball joint.

Is there any particular trick to getting it it? I've tried spinning it while applying pressure. The write ups I've read don't say anything about this. Have I missed something?

No tricks. Just put some downward weight on the cv as you push it in, and rotate it slowly from left to right until it pops into the centre.

Thanks for that fatzook. Realised I was having a blonde moment and figured it out. Just put the tin/rubber/felt on. Here's hoping it went on the right way!

I snapped one of the kingpin bolts!

Just waiting on the third stupid fuck up for the day...

Can any one point me in the direction of where I can acquire a new kingpin bolt?

EDIT: Found some on ebay.

these kinds of things happen to me also,.... starts out as an easy 30 minute job, then something stuffs up and it takes the whole day.

The third stuff up was another bolt. Hub body bolt snapped - I mis read the torque settings - it was measured in in/lb not ft/lb....

Ah well I got a thorough induction on the new torque wrench, on how to read and re-check service manuals, and I'm due to learn how to remove snapped bolts when I'm next back at home...

There's always a silver lining.
