Is it a 1L or 1.3?

No, a baleno or efi vit starter will not fit. You might get a 1.6 carby vitara starter to fit, but it may need a quick grind of its housing to do so.

IMO, just buy a new one if yours is stuffed.

But what is it doing?

Does it just click when you turn the key?
Does it just spin?
Does it grind on the flywheel?

It may be an easy fix.

it will start most of the time but i start at 5 every morning now for work and its already fucked up once. its like a grinding noise like it wont turn. so i push the car forward clutch in and first then let it out and she will start then. dunno if its sticky or what but id prefer to get another one then have to run more wires in the engine bay. already got an alarm, spotties and horn wiring but im yet to hide the wires :/

I would pull it apart, Clean it out, regrease and test. If test it ok, Straight 12V, solinoid shoots shaft out and motor spins. Should be good. Put it back in.

If its a 1.3 sierra, Its a Mitsubishi brand Starter. Lancer/mirage use the same. Last one i got, 1 hole was threaded, easy to drill out. They are Newer and better condition

Swifts wont fit either. I think they are Denso ones.

It probably isn't the starter but the ring gear on the flywheel.

Being told to hit it doesn't mean anything but if you hit it then it started it may mean the solenoid is sticky.

Yes i have used the lancer/mirage starter. Make sure its the exact same as yours though. There are some others about if you go looking for them.

My sierra starter once blew the start gear inside the starter. I pulled a complete mitsu one apart and used that gear shaft doova...

Suzuki don't make starters, They are a generic part like an alternator. So many different brands might use the same.

When you get the starter out grab a torch and check the flywheel ring gear to see if there are any teeth left on it.

The rounded teeth are caused by a weak solenoid not throwing the drive gear hard enough to engage properly.
The reason only 3 teeth are worn is because 4 cylinder engines will only usually come to rest in two positions 180 apart.
Turn the engine half a turn and you'll see what I mean. The teeth there may not be as bad but will have wear.

If you fit a BRAND NEW starter you'd do well to fit a good flywheel too.

The clutch may have tens of thousands of K's in it yet so don't race out and buy a new one just yet, but it's certainly worth changing the oil.

Not exatlly tradesman like, but if ya got no cash for a new ring gear, you can lay under there with a triangleler file and clean up the teeth that are dashed. works.

If the starter has ground the ringgear teeth down to the point where it won't engage properly then no amount of filing with a 'triangleler' file will bring them back.
