Ok, sierra starts good, idles good, goes good. But when warm it can sometimes just decide to rev up to just over 2000 rpm, OR when at night it will idle normal then when i turn the lights on it revs up to the same again. ONLY WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON!!! WTF!!! Its tearing me apart.

Please someone have a clue of whats going on here? I would have thought the lights would not be connected to anything that could affect the rpm's of the vehicle?

On a side note, also when i turn the lights on the sub woofer turns off aswell, only the subwoofer. Stupid electrics. Darn it!!

Thanks Atari I have been trying search for about a week google and all but not much comes up when you dont know what things are called. So its definitely that now that i turn the lights on and watch it shift out.

But why so much? it sits around 2200rpm when warmed up. and that aint fun trying to do slow stuff like trying to go to supermarket carpark at night hahaa! Ill search around for tuning? or something like that.

Thanks again

Front of carby, get someone to turn lights on and you will see the idle up thingy move the accelerator arm. Back the screw off with lights on to required rpm. Back right off if you dont want it playing up again.

Found this, screw is backed right off not touching the arm at all, no difference. Unscrewed the allen key screw that the little arm pushes against also while the lights were on and it wasnt even touching the arm so something else was making the accelerator arm move..... Thats why I am so confused!

There was another bit that looked like the part that was in your own thread about this issue but its on the passenger side of the carby and has no screws or anything near it for adjustment......

If you have ruled out the idle up solenoid there a couple of other things it could be.

Do the 2 coolant hoses at the back of the carby get hot? If they arent then the choke won't come off at temperature.
Could also be blocked jets inside the carby

My carby acts a bit strange too its been rebuilt once and I've opened it up and cleaned it out again on a separate occasion, I've also put an extra filter at the fuel inlet on the carby.

The one of the passenger side is the fuel cut solenoid.
