Hi Folks,

Drained the trans fluid a few months back. Refilled it and used teflon tape and what appears to be a drain plug leak? Dropped the oil last week and used permflex type blue sealant and re filled the trans case. Bloody thing is still leaking. I dont see any other leaks on the trans. I did change the rear tail shaft seal last year and there is no oil there and is now bone dry.

I have filled up my diffs(front/rear), Transfer Case and have no leaks from those.

is this a common issue? Can you buy a better drain plug that will fit and maybe have a rubber gasket? Not that I can see mate. It looks pretty good. I might check tomorrow when I have more of a chance in better light. I just cant seem to stop the drip leak.

I cant recall the design of the drain plug, but does it have a washer?

Sometimes they are a material type stuff, which in my experience after a few yrs become a bit useless and tend to seep oil. A new copper washer of the proper size will work wonders, and if you are careful is reusable.
