Hi yesterday/last night i redid my king pins, shimming them at the same time to try and get rid of the wobbles. i greased the king pin bearings, added extra grease randomly inside the nuckle, added grease to the cv and packed some more grease in the top of the king pin. today i took it for a test drive and before i got to 40 kph heard what sounds to me like a bearing squeal. isit possible ive somehow damaged something (main wheel bearing) while doing the king pins? what should i check> theres no play in the wheel itself. |

Not sure what you could have damaged. Excess grease would be pushed out of the bearings, and out the wiper seals if that was an issue. Is the squeel sustained? Or was it one brief sound and nothing since? |

its confusing, its constant, but only above 40kph. i havent sealed the king pins yet incase i have to add/ remove shims. borrowing a tie rod breaker today to try and measure the initial torque required to turn it. |

feeling moderately retarded, when i put down the air operated hub it locked itself. its unlocked now, but the noise was the diff doing flips while it was being drive by one wheel. thankfully i didn't go to fast. |

Thats exactly what the previous owner of my mates hilux did, except it had no squeel. After a year or so of ownership it cost him a front diff centre, around 900 smacks from palmerston 4wd. |
