Hi all, does the Sierra coily front axle share the diff centre, axle shafts, CVs and stubs with the other Sierra's or the Jimnys?
Ditto for the rears.
Are all Sierra coilys WT?
Is there an issue with getting spares for the S coily? Which parts?
Thanks

front, no, no, no and no, nothing is the same in the front axle

rears pretty much nothing. only the rear diff carrier is similar.

coilys are actually wider track than wide track, so technically no

yes, because coilys are less common they can be hard to find all parts for

OK, that chops that idea neatly, thank you! I'm gathering from other threads that all Sierras after mid 88ish are WT, is that correct?
Thanks

Yes, except for Indian built marutis, which can be WT, but most are Narrow Track.

If you're buying a sierra definitely get a leafy IMHO. LWB 1.3 litre narrow track is best. I wish I didn't sell mine, it could have rode so much better(needed to de rate springs) and looked awesome and handled better off road.

Handle better off road, that's interesting, I would have thought the SWB to be an advantage. In what way is the LWB better?

Having more wheelbase makes it feel 'safer' going up and down things. It also allows you go get "over" things with the front wheels when the back wheels are on the straight and level (on really really steep stuff -that I can't/won't drive- a SWB can flip ). Then instead of being vertical you are on less of an angle.

Basically, they are more stable in general which is a really good thing in a 4x4. Although SWB is great for ducking through trees and tight sections, where everyone else is trying to do 3 point turns and getting bogged in mud.

The steering is much more responsive in the SWB, even though it was the same steering box.

Some people here can explain it way more technically than me.
