New here, cool site! - trawled through the forums but couldnt find anything on the same problem, so thought I'd post.

I have a 2000 Jimny with the G13BB engine, and it has a problem with the ignition cutting out when the engine is hot. I've researched it and found that its related to the cam angle sensor. It doesnt have the crank angle sensor.

It'll normally happen after a long drive, where the car conks out if it has to idle for more that a few minutes, or if I park and then try to start it a few minutes later, it wont fire.

If I pour water on the end cap where I assume the sensor is, it'll start straight away.

I'll get a new sensor, but Im wanting to know if the cam angle sensor is just a 'un-plug, remove bolt, slide out' sort of thing, or if its more involved, like some sort of geared setup that I'll have to have the engine at topdeadcenter or something.

Being a cheap bugger, I rigged up a squirty bottle in the cabin, with a length of hose plumbed into the engine bay to spray when Im worried that it'll get too hot, hahaa, but since I just clicked over 300,000 km's I thought I'd actually fix the problem!

Any help would be appreciated - the manual is a but lacking on info in it.

It's a piece of piss, mate. Just one 10mm and she's out. I did the same sensor about a month ago. It was about 80 bucks or so and ten minutes worth of work. Couldn't be easier.
