Hey guys, I own a 1991 Suzuki Vitara jlx and I'm sort of new to four wheel drives. I get the very basics of it all but not much else. I'd love to learn though and thats the reason i bought the car. So far im having loads of fun driving it and i'd love to go offroad but my car is basically stock except its a little higher than standard so i'm not sure how it would go offroad and to be honest i have no idea which modifications are worth it and which aren't... What would you suggest that I do... perhaps something easier to start me off? Thanks, Jake. |

Go out and wheel the damn thing; not hardcore flip-it-on-its-lid wheeling, just get off the blacktop and enjoy yourself. Find the limits of your own driving abilities before you start worrying about the limits of your vehicle. Once you have done that, then slowly improve upon the the limits of your rig. |

IMO the best way to learn is to join a 4x4 club with members who own the same 4x4 as yourself. A good club will have: trips/tech days for newbies to learn the ropes. knowledgeable members who a willing to help fix your car. people leading trips to great places you don't know about. a few members who are in the 4x4 business who may be able to help you get a discount on parts etc. Where are you located Jake? There are a few Suzuki based 4x4 clubs about. |

Thanks for the advice, i like the idea of giving it a shot, i was honestly just unsure of where to start. Are there any good (easy) areas near adelaide where i could drive offroad? I live in Adelaide and i'm just finishing off year 12 at the moment so perhaps i could look into finding a 4x4 club after that... |

In adelaide you need to travel for a few hours to do any 4wding unless you pay to go to jakem park near callington. As above best way is to get out and drive it, find its capabities and yours without over doing before doing mods. Not to sure of the adelaide clubs, ive always steered away from them as they're mostly not interested in suzukis and are generally older nomad style touring orientated. |

What sort of price are we talking to go to jakem park? Obviously I don't want to spend a fortune but petrol isn't that cheap either... so ehh. |
