Hi guys, I have an lj80 project which is on the home stretch, but I'm in need of a hand to sort the last few things regarding the dizzy, airbox and a couple of little bits of wiring.

I'm a professional tattoo artist, with 3 1/2 years shop experience. Willing to negotiate tattoo time for help sorting these things! I am in mosman Park, Perth.

Before I started this project I had never so much as changed a wheel. Although I've gotten this far, I don't have a clue with the engine side of things. There are a few bodged bits on it that ill gradually fix up, but I no longer have shed space so I need to get it running and driviable ASAP.

Thanks,

Maybe edit your subject line with [PERTH] in it, and throw up a post in the Movember chitty chat linking to here? Not everyone looks in the "Noob" section =)

Am I right in thinking you're trying to put a Sierra elec ignition dizzy into it? I'd stick with the LJ one, I had a Sierra dizzy for a while and all it did was leak oil over everything, Highway-Star had the same problem.

LJ airbox on an F10a is pretty easy. You can redrill the mounting foot on the battery side so you can move the airbox closer. The other side will require a new bracket made or a new hole drilled in the guard. The OD of the carby on an F10a is slightly larger than an F8as so getting the boot over the end may be cause for a lot of swearing, it certainly was for me!

If you've got a good F8a manifold and carb then you can bolt this onto the engine and everything will bolt up. I like the F8a carb better than the 1l one. That saves you having to sort out the choke cable too.

I'd give you a hand but I'm down south for the next few months. If you still need help around the start of feb, let me know. :)

I did the exact same engine swap into my LJ using an F10a. I used the later model electronic dizzy found on the maruti f10a engine and didn't have much of a problem with oil leaking, I would get a tiny weap of oil out of the dizzy after about 500kms of driving. Here are some threads of mine which may help you with the wiring side of things.

As for the air box I didn't have to re-drill any holes for the box, I just put the one end in hot water to soften it up and little, then fitted it to the carb and tightened up with a decent clamp and then fitted the other end to the air box.
