i have done almost 10,000 k on my current set of km2's. as the car is my daily driver, is it worth balancing the tyres? i know i have some minor balance issues but im unsure if the local machine is accurate enough to fix that.
how often do you guys balance and or rotate?
cheers
Jez

When I bought my Km2s the bloke reckoned a wheel rotation should be done every service And the sticker said every 15k for alignment and balance
He said the more even the wear is the quieter they will be and nicer on the road
Not sure how correct it is but I see the sense in it. Cheers Marvin

An inbalance on a tyre can cause irregular wear.
Shakes from inbalance can accelerate wear to suspension components.
You should balance tyres if you are experiencing shakes. Low speed shakes, (under 50kph) may indiacte a tyre that is separating.
I remember reading/seeing somewhere, that Siearras only ever had the front wheels balanced from the factory, but balancing all 4 is still a wise move.

I don't balance my offroad tyres, but I would balance the tyres on a daily.
Steve.

I have rebalanced mine a few times to correct small vibrations. I am not sure if the tyres slip when running at low pressures or if it is just tyre wear or inaccurate balancing that is marginal to start with. I only do it when I feel some sort of vibrations. It did help me pick up a deformed rim a while back. I have balanced twice in 30,000 km.

normally i dont have a problem but going round corners sometimes the tyres align and get out of balance in opposite directions or something harmonising to the point that its noticeable. the rest of the time it feels fine. im not confident that the machine at the local tyrepower is sensative enough to pick it up...

I rotate every six months, balance whenever the tire is removed from the rim or if there is an issue that warrants it - the wheels on my GV were last balanced when the AT3s were fitted back in January of 2010.

i also rotate 6 monthly... only ever have mine balanced when they're fitted to the rims though (or if i've thrown a weight and get a wobble, but that's rare).
If you're going over 60km/hr then i think balancing is a good idea... its a lot of weight to have wobbling around!
